2023/7/22 - PRAIRIE RIDGE MOTH WEEK
DIRECTOR'S CUT EXTENDED EDITION

This is the Director's Cut Extended Edition for this album, meaning I have included many photos which don't meet my typical artistic standards because they hold special memories for me. If you are looking for a shorter and higher quality collection, visit the curated Theatrical Cut at PRAIRIE RIDGE ECOSTATION SUMMER 2023 - THEATRICAL RELEASE.

At the beginning of National Moth Week, I attended an adult camp to learn about moths and what makes them different to butterflies, and also an introduction to rubber block printing. We went to the native plant garden to look for day moths (that's right, they're not all nocturnal), and we found an Ailanthus Webworm Moth and a whimsical Wood Nymph Moth (who is also known as a bird poop moth for visually obvious reasons).

For my block print, I tried to recreate a photo I had taken just the day before of a Clearwing Hummingbird Moth, because I find them so fascinating. I simplified the design a bit to make it stylised and less noisy, and then while cutting simplified it more because of how unexpectedly tedious it all was. But I think it turned out great!
