2023/7/25 - DOROTHEA DIX SUNFLOWERS
DIRECTOR'S CUT EXTENDED EDITION

This is the Director's Cut Extended Edition for this album, meaning I have included many photos which don't meet my typical artistic standards because they hold special memories for me. If you are looking for a shorter and higher quality collection, visit the curated Theatrical Cut at DOROTHEA DIX SUNFLOWERS 2023 - SPIDER FREE THEATRICAL RELEASE.

What a delight to see the male Blue Grosbeak and his little groslings again! Right after I arrived at the field (at 6am), I took a few shots of two of them together that I thought for sure wouldn't turn out, due to the poor light and how they were moving around. By the grace of the photography gods, just one of them was clear, and they are so precious. Highlight of the field this year.

The goldfinches finally were out, with their adorable wavelike flight with accompanying chirps, picking out the freshest sunflower seeds. You always want a photo of them on a cute, photogenic flower, but the most delicious flowers are the ones already falling apart.

I actually think this might be a female Orchard Oriole? There was definitely one hanging around

Not a lot of cardinals this year, sadly
